I thought long and hard before I used the word, shamanistic, to describe one aspect of the shroud. What do you think? Shamanism is a word that's been taboo and forbidden in regard to mainstream religion. Is it the right word to use in regard to this piece and its purpose? Am I off my rocker?

In my 'Racist' series of paintings, I ask the question: when offered help, will we accept it if it comes packaged in the 'wrong' cultural wrappings? Are we likely to accept help only when it comes from within our own culture? What happens when the divide we must cross ocurs within a religious context?

On my home page, I state that feminist spirituality asserts that abstract thought and the rational mind are only one means of seeking and understanding God. It seeks to correct this imbalance by paying "attention to difference and diversity in women's experience" (Rakoczy 233). [That's Susan Rakoczy I'm quoting]. It is our very particular experiences and perspectives as women that have often been neglected. Can you comment on that? Is there any place in the church for our particular experiences and perspectives, whethere we are women or men?
